My headlight and tailight works (they run off the lighting coil), so does it mean that if my turns signals and brake light doesn't work my charge coil is no good. I tried testing my charge coil with a multimeter by connecting it inline with the positive lead from the stator and got a reading of 4.5 volts prior to starting and then almost zero after running (it's a 6volt system).
When connecting the meter up it shows 4.5volts held in charge on the battery. The battery is almost new and once started the meter should show an increase in the charging rate somewhere around 6+volts which it isn't.
Oh and there's is no regulator on this model only a recifier.

you cant test anny coils by output the only way to test is by resistance and then you need restiance specs from a shop. swap out a bulb and if it turns on or flashs on and burns out your recitfier is shot. secondly no accesories run off the charge coil if they dont run off of the lighting coil then its a 12 volt accesorie that run off the batterie and that leads me to belive your batterie doesent fully charge if your only gettin 6 volts and that again would be a faulty rectifer

I'm no good on electrical testing with meters and stuff, but I suspect that you can't test a charging system "prior to starting" because if the motor's not going the generator (or magneto or whatever) can't be charging. Your turn signals and brake light (and horn) all work off the battery, which would appear to be flat. The charge coil may have broken down, but it's quite unlikely given that there are no moving parts in it (although it could have been affected by vibration, over the years). It's more likely to be a faulty voltage regulator, which is somewhat easier to replace, given that you don't have to pull the flywheel off. I'd start there. And you'll probably need a new battery, too.
