Does "the book" recommend a brand of oil? The only problem with regular car oil is it has additives to make it extra slippery for good lubrication and that's not good for your wet clutch. Buy a specific cycle oil or buy an oil that doesn't have the extra slippery additives.
The NGK spark plugs have threads designed to mate perfectly with your motorcycles spark plug hole. You screw that up and you have a problem.
Follow the recommendations of your book and you be better off.
You could also go to your local bike dealer and talk to a mechanic or one of the shops sponsored riders and ask what they recommend.

what kind of oil goes into the transmission on a 99 rm250. the book says to put 10-40 motor oil. now does that include car motor oil as well? also i took off the spark plug and there was an Auto lite 4063 Spark plug . specs says it takes an NGK r6918b-7 big price diffrence .
