In 2001, I bought a brand new Suzuki Bandit GSF1200S that burned oil; it was still under warranty, so I brought it in to Suzuki, they found out that it was the oil ports behind the oil rings where too large and where allowing too much oil to blow by the compression and scraper ring causing excessive oil burning(one quart every three hundred miles) and the Suzuki dealer accepted responsibility and they replaced the pistons and rings. Since then, I sold that bike and recently purchased a used 2002 Suzuki Bandit GSF1200K with only 2700 miles on it, it too is burning oil. I know what the problem is; it is the same as my 2001 Suzuki Bandit. At present, It is burning up one quart every four hundred miles. Even though I bought this bike via private party and since it has only 2700 hundred miles(which is way below warranty mileage which I believe is 12,000 miles), I think it should still be covered under warranty or it be recognized as a recall.
Who knows if Suzuki has a recall on this problem? Who do I contact at Suzuki to resolve this issue? How much should it cost to replace the pistons, rings, gaskets including labor? Who has any suggestions?
