Suzuki ay50 using lots of petrol?

It is only doing around 35mpg, how can i solve the problem? i fill the tank up go to town and back which proberly adds to around 40miles and its all gone :( is it anything to do with it been restricted? help
i only just brought the bike and the fuel comsumption was already like it:(
 
Is the air filter clogged? Maybe do a plug chop; ride it flat out for half a mile then kill the engine and coast to a halt. (Find a quiet road to do this!) Then take the spark plug out. It should be biscuit brown. If it's white it'd be running too lean, but I don't think that'll be the case. If it's black, it's running too rich. Then it's just finding out why. The air filter could be the cause, or it could be something else.

Did the fuel consumption suddenly degrade, or did it gradually deteriorate?
 
ENGINE MAY BE RUNNING RICH (USING MORE FUEL THAN NORMAL) SOME THING MIGHT BE WRONG WITH CARBURETOR , TAKE IT TO GARAGE , 50CC MOPEDS SHOULD HAVE LIKE 70 MPG
OR EVEN HIGHER
