Has anyone here suspended their BellTV for a period? they say if you do it online you only have to pay $10 a month to hold your account, plus hardware rentals etc.. So I guess since I have digital standard, and the $10 HD stuff, I could save 35 bucks roughly a month over the summer as we hardly watch TV in the summer.

Anyways, my question, does anyone know if when you suspend your Bell TV account, if it affects any bundling discounts that you have? (we have at least $15 a month in bundle discounts that could be affected). I couldn't see any information on this aspect on their site.

I've done this during the summer, too. Suspend service after the Stanley Cup is awarded, restore service three months later in time for pre-season! No affect on bundle discounts.

Keep in mind you have to suspend for a minimum period.

I have a question about suspension too, if you suspend service can you still play recordings off a DVR, a 6131 with EHD specifically?

Second, if you own your equipmnet, is there any reason to suspend and not just cancel service and restart service in the fall?

Thanks in advance for the help.

I don't have a PVR so I don't know.

I wouldn't want to cancel outright since one would need to be away for at least 6 months before Bell treats one as a new customer, after which point one would have to pay the new customer setup fees, plus if one had an older programming package, one would lose it forever when you cancelled.

I have a 9242, that I had to disconnect the Dish for maintenance, and during that time the PVR worked. The 9242 has a tendency to want to reboot if disconnected from the dish. I don't no if the receiver losses that ability once is has lost it's authorized status, but I would doubt it. All functions worked when I first set it up, before it was authorized.

I guess I'm trying to justify the $10/mo. I've had service since October, but I bought my 6131, did my own install, then just called to activate service. I have no promo rate or anything, no new customer discount, just straight pricing. I did get $100 off my first bills as a rebate from the receiver purchase, but that is long used up.

Is there any reason I shouldn't turn service off entirely. If I call in 3 months to reactivate, I'd be in the same boat, no promo discounts or anything like I have now? I just hate to pay them $30 or $40 for nothing, unless I could still use the PVR and watch my recordings, that would be worth $10/mo.

Check with Bell as to what the new customer setup fee is before you make a decision. I've read on these boards it's $35 or $75.

Temporary suspension is only worth it if you are on a contract...it allows you the possibility to shut down your service for a period, then restart it later on, no early termination fee. Months spent in temporary suspension do not count has month done in the contract. If you put your account in temporary suspension the number of month your account will be on temporary suspension will be added at the end of the contract. If you are no longer on a contract, and know the date at which you want to be suspended it is not worth it. Instead you call 30 days before the day you want the service disconnected and have them disconnect the service. Once you are ready to reconnect just sign up as a new client, they will offer you all the new clients promo (if you want to sign a new contract). If you do not want to sign a new contract they could just hook up your old account, but there is a 50$ reconnection charge which lots of agents forget to charge

Temporary suspension is 10$/month done throught sell serve tool (receiver or bell.ca) OR 11$/month done throught an agent
If you receivers are rented, rental fees still applies
