Surprise 40th Birthday Bash - Need NYC venue?

I'm hosting a surprise 40th birthday party for a very special male friend, and I would like to find a nice club, lounge or event space that won't kill me financially. I would like to invite about 150 people and include open bar if it's a club.

Any ideas? Finding a venue in New York City is harder than I thought.
