Surgery for umbilical hernia gone awry

UPDATE:
In july I had made an appointment to see the doctor who performed the surgery. I wanted to be sure that since the surgery was obviously a failure that no serious complications would erupt. His reaction was "yep the hernia came back" and "we will do the mesh procedure on you next time". I remember thinking there's no way I'm letting this guy do the procedure again.

Then a few weeks later I get a bill for $100 for the office visit! Can you believe these people? I wouldn't have needed to go back to him if he had done the procedure properly to begin with. So I called his secretary to argue this point and she said "I'm sorry you weren't satisfied with the outcome" and refused to cancel the bill. I told her that I was going to call my lawyer.

I didn't call my lawyer and I ended up paying the $100 so it wouldn't go on my credit. I just wanted to forget about it. But now it's october and I still have a painful hernia, and I'm thinking about calling my lawyer again.

Moral of the story; If your doctor says he's not going to do the mesh procedure - find another doctor!

what is the mesh proceedure, I have a ventral hernia which i think is the same as an umbilical hernia and i have gallstones, my surgeon said he will go in laproscopically and take my gallbladder out then wait 6-8 weeks to go back and fix my hernia, he said he could possibly do it at the same time, but the mesh he would have to use would be either human or animal membrane, ever heard of that!!!
