I am needing surgery soon. It's all quite confusing to me but here it is...

L1-S1 PSF/I (Depuy Monarch); Osteotomy L2-3, L3-4, L4-5, L5-S1
and
ALIF (Synthes) at L5-S1, XLIF L2-3, L3-4, L4-5 (Nuvasive); PSF/I L1-Pelvis (Monarch)

I am concerned to say the least. I have been researching and trying to totally understand what I am up against. After reading some of these threaRAB, I'm a little concerned.

Anyway, what I want to know, and please excuse the topic, it is quite personal. But my doctor said that in dealing with this type of pelvic surgery is could "change" my sexual life. He said just meaning I would have a different "tilt". Has anyone out there experienced anything like this at all? He told me that he has only done this surgery on the elderly (I'm only 51) so he really doesn't know if it affected them in any way.

So, just curious about so many things about this surgery...one of them being will my intimate life with my husband come to and end?

Hi Blarabert, and welcome to the board!

You've come to the right place with your question. Since we're all anonymous here, it's not so hard to talk about this stuff.

I have 14 levels fused, T4 to sacrum. Needless to say, I don't "tilt" at all! But my husband and I still have a satisfying sex life, for both of us. You'll figure out what to do differently, how to move and manage within your limitations. Talk to each other, be honest, and it will be okay!

I wish you the best!

Oh, thanks so much for your response. It just brought tears to my eyes...of hope! What was your recovery like? You had a lot more done than I will have; I'm just concerned about that "S1". Doc said that is the tricky one. Any info you can give me would be great! So glad I have someone to chat with about it. A little nervous at this point.
