Here is what happened: The secretarial supervisor bullies me from June 2008 to August 2008 by walking by my desk, giving belligerent stares. August 2008 I get a yearly review on my work performance. September 2008 she calls me to her office again for a "2nd review", totally wasting my time when I could be doing work at my desk. As you can see, she just won't leave me the hell alone. She says things about my review and I disagree with her and state my opinion, sticking up for myself. Obviously she didn't expect that. Later on, she goes to the HR manager complaining about how disrespectful I was and that the way I was talking toward her was "distressful". lol The HR manager calls me to her office to meet with her and the supervisor. The HR manager tells me "I don't want to have to hear about this complaint again. We respect each other here in the workplace, and the way in which you convey your opinions should be done in a respectful manner." Meanwhile, the HR manager never lets me get a word in edgewise (they won't hear a secretary's side of the story because a secretary is not important).

So because I stood up for myself after the supervisor has bullied me since June 2008 to August 2008, she didn't like the fact that I caused her "distress" and took her senseless complaint to the HR manager.

What do you think? Do you think that because I stood up to the bullying supervisor, that I now scared her and got her off my back?

Does the fact that she complained to the HR manager makes her look weak?

I was told that I'm not the only one she's been giving problems to. But it seems as though she picks on people who don't have the guts to stand up for themselves. The HR manager is also new, and she doesn't know about how the supervisor belittles and tries to bully secretaries like myself.

Anyway your comments are welcome. Thanks for reading.

PS - I thought about leaving my job, but now I don't want to lol. Because I now know that I have control of the situation.

I'm glad you stuck up for yourself and it really cheeses me off that HR didn't let you get your side of the story in. Sounds like you work for a suck company. Personally, I'd be looking for another job just so I could have the satisfaction of walking out on them without notice. But if you leave, they'll probably just be glad to get rid of you. Certain places thrive because they like to hire spineless people who fit into their ham-fisted managerial style.
