what you just said is one of my main concerns, a dedicated track bike is kinda like buying a boat the only time your happy with it is when you buy it and you sell it. On the other hand i loved having a dedicated track bike when i lived in LA since it did get wuite a bit of use. I certainly think that a street version and a track only version could be an option.

how about if i worded the question like this for you, if duacti offered a single cylinder 1098 in three different trim base, S, and R as a package deal, such as insurance, entry in a private mono only race series, hotel accomadations, and let say parts options such as certain performance parts like light weight subframe, adjustible rearsets, etc....would you be interested and how much would it be worth to you

In terms of design, my motto has always been keep it simple. Simple and functional. I reckon heading down the lines of half an 1198 is not simple, and would be expensive. Why re-invent the wheel when you have so many bolt in options that are already produced by so many reliable manufacturers? Yamaha, Honda, Aprilia, what have Bombardier got for example? The KTM 690 motor would be a belter for this. If it were me, I'd be starting with an existing production based enine mount dimensions, that would lend itself to hotting up readily, was reliable, cost effective, readily available, and building some chassis and body design package options based on increasing levels of entry cost for the customer. Then chuck in road or track options on top of that to boot.

Good luck. Show us your drawings when you're done.

Move to Adelaide and I'll rally together some investors for you, get some government grants, and help you put it into production.....

well soz im actually in the middle of drawing them, but am having a few problems with the fairing design, currently what im doing is packaging the bike. to keep costs down, and to keep it light and simple the bike will use a trellis frame no aluminum engine plates or carbon frame parts. the idea is to use three different engines displacement hasnt been set but im thinking a 450 cc air cooled single, and two liquid cooled version a base and an r. here are some new concerns, would you want 17 inch wheels or 16.5 wheels. if the bike came as a street version would you like the fairings and parts such as fairing stay to be similar to race parts or would you just buy track parts anyways

Why would you go an air cooled 450? I don't really see the point myself. Keep it simple, go all liquid cooled but max out engine and suspension performance for your R version.

The wheels? I dunno. 16.5 would handle better and would be that little bit lighter wouldn't they?

I'd make them as similar as possible for street and track as you could. Just to keep costs to a minimum.

But what would I know?
