Supermono

yeah i nearly bought one, fast as hell, the 550 are putting out 70 hp.......but the problems turned me off.......the fact that aprillia only give 3 months warranty on a new bike said it all....i went with the husky, not quite as fast but 2 year factory warranty convinced me

I'll be the buzz killer here while raining on my own parade for a minute.

It would be neat If Ducati would release a thumper. I'd stand at attention for that one.
But being realistic, we all now how they would go about it. They would do the traditional Ducati media hoopla on it to judge interest. Naturally the public will go ape shit over it as Borgo Panagiali would draw direct lineage from the supermono. Pre production testing 'leaks' will tell us it will trounce 600 multis to get the feeding frenzy going. Customer deposits will be encouraging.

80 hp 66 ft lbs torque
221 lbs
'feels like a 125 GP bike

After reality sets in...

53 hp 44 ft lbs
371 lbs
'feels like a 600
$13,720.00

341 sold world wide in a two year period.

God I'm a dick.

Nahh, it won't be that bad. The Ninja 250 is for the most part a twenty year old design, and if you could even keep that weight with say with an extra twenty to thirty horsepower it would be worthwhile.

Ok, $12,180 in Loonies or bucks.
I'd jizz all over it but as it would be the 'first big single sportbike' I think Duc would to their assumed advantage still price it at the top tier of acceptability based on an anticipated volume. Smart marketing at it's best.

Here's a different tact.
Considering a bike of this nature and demographic appeal and again at an assumed lower price point, I wouldn't be surprised if the Borgo boys had something provided by a 'satellite' operation in Korea or China. Slap some large DUCATI stickies on the tank and peddle it. Their first contemporary foray into a mass appeal product.

Oh jesusHchrist... Did I just create the next Buell Blast?

As sty hangs head in shame while walking to the fridge to wash his mouth out with $9 per case beer.
