I know this one was a flop (shame for Chris Reeve), but just wanted to let you know that it is on Five (18th) today at 5:30.

IIRC, this hasn't been shown on TV itself for at least 10 years although I could be wrong.

Its the shortest of them all, on five just 1 1/2 hours with aRAB.

Shame that Five have got the info wrong, they are saying its protean man, when its nuclear man lol

I have the boxset dvd anyways but might watch if nothing else on, even to just laugh at the thinking of building the China Wall lol.

They must have edited stuff out of it then, on the BBFC website it lists the film as being 92 minutes (obviously without aRAB).

The dvd version boxset shows in UK it is 86 Mins, 92 mins is probably the NTSC counter. Five are showing it within 1 hour 35 mins. It was already edited alot, 30 mins cut out, so god help five's edit as well.

Kegsie, did you mean shall or shall'nt?

The 'subway' sequence...probably the laziest, most inept bit of set-dressing I have ever seen in a movie!

What on earth made them think that slapping a few New York tourist style posters on the walls would convince people that a very obvious, iconic London underground station could ever look like a New York Subway???

Not even sure why I am still watching...we have already had the hanna-barbera style cartoon opening credits, and Jon Cryers abominable 'dudespeaking' teenager.

But...I just can't seem to tear myself away...it's sort of...hypnotic...

Watching it now. That's DEFINITELY America.

Not Milton Keynes. No siree bob!

(and how did a strand of Superman's hair get so long? It doesn't grow under Earth's yellow sun! Pre-Crisis, anyway;) )

"and how did a strand of Superman's hair get so long"

Oh yes...that was another great howler - apparently a strand of his hair is so strong it can hold the weight of a 1000lb weight...but it can easily be cut with a bog standard pair of wire cutters!

OK...to be fair, I do know that they ran out of money during filming and had to drastically cut the budget, and it does look like a film that is just unfinished, it looks like they just never botherered to go back and do any sort of post-production at all.

Oh, and you should check out the deleted scenes on youtube, with the first, abortive attempt to create Nuclear Man. They are actually worse than anything in the movie!

'Lennie' actually fits in with the great tradition of teenagers in DC comics of that time. Their attempts to be 'cool' were always embarrasing.

'Vibe', anyone?

haha this is the worst film I have ever seen, wtf was going on with the dude getting created by the sun and Superman catching nuclear weapons in a net!

HA. Its so so so bad, yet I cant look away!

As I speak he's just cooked a chicken in the oven with his eyes.

Brilliant.
