Just about forgotten (some might say with good reason), this is actually good fun and although a low-budget affair, still manages to entertain.
Kirk Alyn makes a decent stab at the Man of Steel role, overcoming supervillains, natural disasters, frighteningly large trunks and a lack of screen credit, ably supported by the wonderful Noel Neill as Lois Lane.
Even saddled with animated flying sequences, a truly horrible performance from Carol Forman as the Spider Lady and an array of mismatched stock footage, it's still better than Superman IV and Superman Returns.
Alyn was a much better actor than George Reeves and also looked more like the comic book Clark Kent. It's a pity he didn't get to do the tv series (although he did return in another serial "Atom Man vs. Superman") but as a consolation prize he got a to star in another DC comics movie, "Blackhawk" and had a cameo in "Superman: the Movie".
