What songs do you prefer the live version over the studio version? Most of the time, I prefer the studio version but in some cases, the live one is much better...
such as..
The Stones - Midnight Rarabler live
Joe Walsh - In the City live

Anything off of Metallica's St. Anger album.
Everlong by the Foo Fighters
Ex Girlfriend and Just a Girl by No Doubt
Goldfinger and Girl From Mars by Ash
Signals Over the Air by Thursday
Lullaby by Thrice
Crashing Down by Sugarcult
Closer by NIN
The Middle by Jimmy Eat World
Points of Authority by Linkin Park
Just about anything by P.O.D. especially Satellite
Stan, My Name Is, The Way I Am by Eminem
Last Resort and She Loves Me Not by Papa Roach
Dirty by Christina Aguilera

and that's all I could think of

The new My Morning Jacket live album Okonokos and the band is really on fire, tight musicianship. The less said about Jim James' live vocals the better, but musically, at least they surpass the recorded version.

Early songs The Clash did like Complete Control and Capital Radio sound a lot better on 'From Here To Eternity'. Theres more kick to them.

I always seem to prefer Live versions to songs because they seem to have more atmosphere to them ! I especially enjoy when a band will break from the studio version and ad-lib versions of songs but me thinks you have to go back to Zeppelins days to find those banRAB.... The Who always had a live sound in the studio to !

The 15 - 30 minute versions of Whole Lotta Love Live now they kick some ass!!!!!

Well, I downloaded a live clip of Linkin Park performing One Step Closer, and they were touring with Puddle of Mudd and Adema, and then right when it got to the bridge they waited a couple of seconRAB and introduced Mark Chaves an the Puddle of Mudd guy(I'm not a fan of them so I don't know his name;)) And then as soon as Joe did the DJing the crowd went wild and they all started singing it, it was ****in incredible
