why is the Government not? I'd like to see the government announce that they are "Cutting 6,000 jobs". Lets face it the Democrats favor more government. Why in this day and age would you want more government? Why is the private sector cutting back but the Gov. isn't? I know, they don't have to answer to stock holders or a BOTTOM LINE. Smaller government equals more money in the peoples pockets! Where are the cut backs?
FYI: It was the Dem's, Barny Frank and the get fresh crew who thought it would be a grat idea for "Everyone to own a home" thereby push legislature through for this all to happen, DUH!

You have got to be kidding me! Government cut back on something? Get real. Government's idea of cutting back is not raising the budget as much as they would like to.

For all those that would like to say the whole thing is the fault of the Republicans and Bush. Do just a little research on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. At one time those two entities were under the direct supervision of the Federal Government specifically Congress. But Congress which was at the time under the heavy control of Democrats said, "We don't need to supervise this. There's no way it can go wrong. We'll turn them over to the public sector". Can someone counter this?

Um....the state of Florida is doing massive cuts to the state government and those cut backs are effecting education, law enforcement, healthcare, child protection, road maintenance, etc....

i know this is state government and not federal, but it is a reduction of "government".

frank may have pushed legislation, but bush has been approving it for the last 8 years.

I strongly believe in smaller government. Until we as voters actually vote Politicians into office who strongly adhere by this theory, it will never happen. Thus, we as voters are to blame in the end for NOT making the WISE CHOICES in our Politicians. BTW, the Government is the largest Employer in this Country, and we taxpayers are ultimately paying for such. What a crime in my mind.

As long al the mention companies pay tax.... as long you and I pay tax.... there's no cut back on the budget of the government nor will they feel the crisis.

Lot of companies are going to cut back a lot more. There was this thing a couple weeks ago, with a guy, got a new job, promised to a$$rape the rich, give to the stupid and lazy….well, this is the expected and predictable result. The rich will pull in the reigns, keep more for themselves.
All those McCain haters, obama lovers, you’ll see. It’ll be a great 4 years of growing joblessness and the message is going to go from “Change” to “Told you so”.
Enjoy.

edit - Heads up genius. nobama supported the bailout to, and Congress (the left leaning one) approved it, but not until after they added lots of pork to it.

all these companies are cutting back because of lack of sales and customers. People are afraid to spend money right now because right now the US like other countries are going threw a debt correction. We spent too much money outside our means .. now there is a reckoning. Instead of buying that TV or Car we are paying off our Debt and worried about how we are going to aford to heat our homes over the winter. Lack of customers = lack of revenue = lack of jobs = less money to spend... its a vicious circle.

The only way for this to stop is Government spending. During the great depression there was a HUGE government expenditure called the "new deal" if you dont know your history google it.

If the government were to cut jobs, then that would mean our society would not be in a good position to uphold various laws. The purpose of government is the ensure that our society is in place. Don't you realize that cutting government jobs would mean less security for citizens that work for those "private companies"? If jobs were cut, then you would not be able to go to sleep at night knowing that our lives are safe. I'm not saying that larger government is a good thing. But what I'm saying is that cutting jobs in the government is never a good idea. They are the one's that provide funding for road ways, schools, education. Without government then our society would not have any order. Government was put in place to provide a sense of order. You take that away and you have chaos. They provide funding for police officers so they can keep the streets safe. They make major decisions that relate to your future. Cutting jobs in general is not a good idea, but this recession we are in is the cause of people losing jobs.

What does Sun Micro Systems, Chase, Eaton, DHL, etc have to do with your rant about Democrats and big government?

It's Bush who supported the bailout plan. Why aren't you mad at him? Oh right ... because he's a Republican.

bigger government with bigger paychecks, its not there money that there spending, they have nobody to answer to people automatically vote democrat so there is nothing to worry about.

Take a look at the bottom line. Government should cut back. Why didnt the Bush administration cut back? Huh? How come? Now you want to put it all on the democrats? Same old gargbage. Now take a look. The housing crisis isnt because of the Jones family down the street in the 60,000.00 home. It is because of the greedy Kowaski family who decided that they could afford the $420,000.00 home. They couldnt do it. Cut it out. Stop putting the blame on the little guy. The little guy didnt default on the mortgage. It was the greedy prick with the big house!

We the People are paying for far too many to hold positions in the government. But since We the People gave up our control of the government, there is noway they will vote themselves out of a job.

For those that gave a thumbs down, you are some serious wack jobs.
