I dont think you can really work at 12 unless you want to do child labor in Asia. However, it wouldn't hurt if you asked your parents and together you went to grocery stores asking about bagging positions, or any place that can have you do the simplest tasks. You would also definitely need a working permit but to be honest i dont think you can actually work until youre 14...well at least in CA you cant....check online to see your state law about working age.
