details? An Armington man died Wednesday morning in a two-car crash near Emden. Matthew W. Pettyjohn, 45, was traveling west-bound on U.S. Route 136 in a 1991 Chevrolet when he collided with a 2007 Chevrolet driven by Gary Myers of Bushnell at approximately 9:16 a.m. According to Illinois State Police who investigated, Myers lost control of his vehicle, crossing the centerline as he was traveling across an ice-covered bridge at 1475 Avenue. Pettyjohn was transferred to OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington, where he was pronounced dead by hospital staff at 10:53 a.m. Neither a female passenger in Pettyjohn's vehicle or Myers, the driver of the other vehicle, sustained injuries in the accident. An autopsy completed Wednesday afternoon concluded that the victim died from multiple injuries to the head, chest, pelvis, and lower extremities. Forensic toxicology tests have been ordered.
