I've heard of retinoiRAB, antibacterial agents, salcyclic acid, etc for acne. But in another post the poster spoke about "sulfur" acne treatments? What OTC sulfur treatments are there? I've never heard of this!
there's sulfur in select acne products out there. you just have to read the labels carefully. i know that proactiv's refining mask has sulfur in it. i tried the mask when i tried proactiv. it worked pretty well but i'm sure you can find a much cheaper economy-sized product. it's such a small tube >_
I love that mask!! I try to use it once a week on my oily skin. Usually if I apply it to a pimple when I first start to feel it, it never comes to a head and it is gone after 2-4 days.
You can usually find it in any drug store. It should be in the skin care aisle. It can be kind of hard to find in the jungle of 100's of other skin care products. It comes in a green and white squeeze tube.
Clearasil Adult Care contains sulfur, and it's quite effective. I bought it at Walmart when I lived in the US, but I've been unable to find any here in the UK.
I use a sulfur shampoo called Sebulex to wash my face (and hair) it is hard to find so I've been ordering it online. I was experiencing a lot of hair loss until I started using it. It has also cleared up my face when nothing else would. I broke out and dried up for the first week then my face really cleared up.
Sulfur is an anti-fungal. Meaning that your acne may be fungal not bacterial if it is working for you.
Thanks so much for recommending the Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque! I've used it twice already, and it is awesome!
I surprisingly had some difficulty finding it. I looked at Walmart, Target, Save-on, Shop Rite, and Walgreens. None of them had it, despite their huge selections! I finally found it at a local discount cosmetics store.
It makes my face feel super smooth, and the existing pimples that I had dried up so quickly.
Clearasil "adult" acne cream has sulfur, as well as Acnomel. I've found both of them at Rite Aid. Make sure to read the label really carefully on the Clearasil though, because the packaging for the adult sulfur cream looks very similar to the regular benzoyl peroxide cream.
I am currently using the Clearasil adult acne cream with sulfur as an alternative to benzoyl peroxide. So far it seems to be going well without drying out my skin as much as benzoyl peroxide did. Hope this helps.
