I signed a least Jan 15 with 2 people. June 1, one of them bailed. Since then our life has been very chaotic, trying to make ends meet paycheck to paycheck trying to cover her rent and utilities and all other bills. In addition to this, when she was asked to pay the bills she left, she told us to "f**** off" and ignored us. It is now almost October and we are still in this plan. She is still on the lease, because she never came to the notary to sign herself off.
We have decided to take her to court in January for back rent. The amount will probably be $2400 + roughly $600 for damages. Is there anything we need to know about this whole process? I know there is an application fee and we'll also have to pay for the trial, but if we win the case, will we get all that money back?
Also, our apartment complex has been informed, an they are going to send us copies of our papers, lease terms, payment proof etc....

also, if i need to collect, what are my options here? will she need to pay me that herself within a time limit or will it be taken out of her work paychecks or what?
