suggestions for people in bad financial situations.?

Please no rude comments, asking for helpful advice. My husband got back from Iraq in march and came off of active duty orders in July. He used to make pretty decent money at his civilian job, but now he doesn't get 40 hours every week. Now that we are struggling to pay bills and buy food we realize we did not plan well enough for this transition, but we really did not think we would suffer such an income loss. We have 2 children and finally found a place cheap enough to send my son to preschool there.....I can't afford to put my daughter in it because she is only 17 months and they are asking 175 dollars a week for children this young. I am searching for a job but have no real skills, I am going to school (online classes) and we have the bills for my school his student loan and all of our house hold bills car bills and rent. I do not have any babysitter for my daughter but am looking for a job anyway. I finally told my husband that I will just get a night job and if he isn't home on time for my hours and I am fired I will just have to find another.It's all I can do. He is looking for a new job and a second job and I wish he didn't have to because he works hard and is so worn down already. We are both stressed all the time. I have panic disorder and acute depression and am on medications that we can't afford either. I feel so helpless and can't image the pain and unhappiness my husband probably feels. He tries his best to do everything he can for us. He even sold some of his knives that were given to him as presents while he was in Iraq....these were sentimental items and I know it was hard for him to do. Our pride finally broke and we decided to apply for food stamps but it takes 30 days to be approved.And we are bled dry. We are behind on bills I am afraid that we will lose everything we have been working so hard for. My husband is still a drilling reservist, he has been trying to get back on orders at his unit but they said with the economy the way it is they really can't afford it. Does anyone know of anything the military or government can do to help us?

Maybe you should try one of those work at home jobs. I sell avon but there is also Mary Kay and others. They make good money or at least are some help and you can keep your baby with you.
