I want to read a sophisticated book that leaves me much room to ponder, but nothing BSing like Twilight or Harry Potter, no offense. I recently finished The Reader by Bernhard Schlink and I thought it was a decent read. I also enjoyed Atonement. I don't want anything wrapped completely around cliched love stories, fantasy fiction, or history. I want something really dark and heartbreaking, but not in a oh-my-god-he-broke-up-with-me sense.
