Hi! I am a college junior, in relatively good health. I have been a competitive cheerleader for many years. This fall I am taking a break from cheerleading and training for a half marathon. Thus daily I have begun running, starting in August with a mile a day. Recently I am up to 3 or 4 miles a day. However, the last few weeks every time I run, the next day I am SO sore that I can't run again for 3 or 4 days. Two weeks ago, I ran a 5k at a moderately slow pace. This wasn't any longer than I had been running, but for the 4 days after I could barely walk or move without intense pain. So I didn't run for a week, and then this Saturday I ran only 2 miles to try and ease back in. However, it's been two days and I am still in SO much pain, I can barely sit or move without tears coming to my eyes. I don't know what to do. I miss my regular working out, but it is so not worth being almost crippled with pain every time I run. Advice? Has anyone else had this happen? What can I do??
