I'm running XP 64bit on a Dell Precision
490 Workstation with 8gb ram installed. This computer has never been connected to the internet, only programs installed on it are Autodesk programs, directly from the autodesk install CD's so shouldn't be any chance of a virus. Up until last night it has ran very smooth. Not sure if the following has anything to do with it, but last night I opened device manager to write down the name of my graphics card, and then got on my other computer that is connected to the internet, went to nvidia.com and downloaded the latest drivers for my card. Put the drivers on a flash drive, popped it back into my workstation and everything froze not sure if they froze from me putting it in, or if it had already froze while i was on the other computer downloading the drivers.. Had to hold the power button in to shut it down. Rebooted and it took a little longer to boot then normal. 3DS MAX takes quite a bit longer to load now, and if the computer goes into sleep mode, it won't wake up, and I have to shut it down and restart by pushing the power button in again. I never ended up installed the nvidia drivers, just took the flash drive back out. Any help/ideas would be great. Thanks.
