Subwoofer questions for ford explorer?

i have a 2003 ford explorer XLT with the 3rd row seat. Im trying to put a subwoofer in the car without subjecting space but still alowing a strong hitting system. Ive look at a few compact subwoofers but they dont seem to have the power im looking for. So, my questions is basically asking whether its possible to mount a shallow-mount subwoofer box to the back of the second row of seats?
