Hello Everyone,

I see there is a board meraber from Toronto "emsmom". She made reference to Subutex possibly being available in Canada. I am from Toronto and my Doctor is taking me off Oxycontin. I'm going from 160mg per day to nothing in ten days. I did this before two years ago and it was horrific. Could you give me the name of the Doctor or clinic where I can reach out for Subutex as help for my addiction?

Many Thanks

Griffith

i would just hang in there , an not trade for a possible worce addiction to something else:)

Hello again,

One thing to consider is you have to be clean from Oxycontin in order for the Suboxone to work. Please let me know if you're able to contact Dr. Meador. If you go through the "Rapid Access Clinic," you can get any of the doctor's in the Family Medicine part of the hospital.

Good luck :)

Hey Thanks,

I emailed my Pain Management Doctors and she is going to try to find someone who can prescribe Subutex. I've been seeing a pain clinic for five years. The oxycontin medication has become more of a problem then a solution. Two years ago the doctor tried to switch me off the oxycontin and I went through horrific withdrawal. Reading about Subutex - it seems to be such a better solution.

I really appreciate your help.

Hi Griffith,

Welcome to the boarRAB :) I went through a hospital's "Rapid Access Clinic" to get Suboxone. I'll ask the moderators what I'm allowed to tell you, then get back to you.

I can't believe you're going to go from 160mg to zero in ten days. OUCH! I'll get back to you as soon as I knwo what I can tell you...in the meantime, look up Suboxone, educate yourself as much as possible and I'll let you know how to obtain it :)

Don't fret - hopefully, together, we'll find a solution for you.

Hey Griffith,

Just wondering how the search is going? Have you found a Suboxone doctor yet?

Hope all is well :)

On the BoarRAB, you may mention a doctor's name and city. Do not post contact information, such as address, email, or telephone nuraber.

Hey,

Not great. I've tried searching for Meador but haven't had any luck.

Thanks mod-anon.

Hi Griffith,

Dr. Meador in Toronto. She is a Suboxone doctor, and I think she is great. She was very thorough, answered all my questions, was very patient and I still see her once a week. I live in the south-west end of Toronto and Suboxone doctors are few and far between in my area. She based out of a hospital so do the math :)

Have you considered the pro's and con's of Suboxone? It sounRAB like you've already made your decision, however just be sure to educate yourself. I found Dr. Meador to be very knowledgeable and helpful, as I was reluctant to try anything that was addictive.

Good luck!
