Substitute for bubble gum for therapy use, anyone?

Recently I was told that my muscles around my throat and/or tongue may have weakened a bit, which has caused me to have choking bouts.

I'm trying to follow certain exercises and one of which, that I can remember, is chewing bubble gum. I stopped chewing a couple years ago, just because I never really felt like chewing it, and needless to say that is when I started showing choking prblems.

I remember chewing bubble gum gave my tongue and mouth a good exercise. I'm just wondering, is there something else that would do the same? I really don't have the desire anymore to chew bubble gum, and the thought of that sugar entering my ody, doing a number on my teeth, it just turns me off. I chew the trident square gums, but it doesn't give my tongue a workout like bubble gume does...any ideas? Or just deal with the bubble gum? One every day I guess? Any ideas?

I just wanted to add that the workout it gives my tongue is actually making bubbles and things like this. Not the actual chewing or movement of the jaw....though, the more gum, the more harder it was to chew, which come to think of it is an exercise too.

You could just chew nothing and do the exercises naturally. Also, there are new types of gum out that are sugar-free and actually strengthen the enamel on your teeth.
