Subs or Dubs?!?

Ok truthfully i have to disagree with anyone who says dubs.. TO WATCH the actual aime and too understand it completely you have to actually watch the original version (Japanese version) And you CAN SLOW THE SUBS DOWN IF YOU HAVE A DVD PLAYER -.-'
 
I prefer dubs for the fact that I usualy tend so miss something if I'm forces to read the screen, even if it's just a facial feature it is important. If I'm stuck reading everything then there are parts where may miss something in the background too, something important to the story.

Subs are meant to be eaten
 
No no. To understand the Anime you have to watch it RAW.
Are you fluint in Japanese? Well I'm not.
Sorry, but many characters just sound wrong when they speak Japanese. Shows like Hellsing, which is set in England. There are no Japanese characters. The Japanese audio sounds like a Dub Over.
There is no way...NO WAY to completely understand Subtitled Anime.
Besides the stupid swapping Ls and Rs, (I mean Rucifer? Who the hell is that? I think you mean Lucifer, pal.) Alot of jokes are based on Japanese Pop Culture. Most of use arn't gonna get the joke anyway.
 
For me, definitely both but as for one question though about dubs-

Why are non-Japanese characters in animes like Fullmetal Alchemist and Code Geass have to sound fluently Japanese? Should characters like those be fitted with the Anglo(British)-accent english? I think it should best fit them since I read the FMA, Code Geass and Hellsing mangas and imagine the characters sound like the British accent or something. To me, it suits characters like that very well.

And for the english dub of Code Geass, how come the Britannian scientist Lloyd is the only one with the British accent when the others like Lelouch(although the dub on him by Jonny Bosch is great) sound just plain standard english? That doesn't make sense with the dub version.
 
Subs for the very end.
I never watch Dubs, i mhate the majority of the work that american companys do when it come to anime.

I like it original and authentic.
Full stop.
 
Same here subs all the way man!!! dubs just dont give the feel of a Japanese anime that subs and raw do. I think that dubs are no different then a cartoon...
 
I wouldnt mind dubs so much if the dubs didnt feel so arkward in places. Pauses in between sentences etc. I have no problem's with dubs if they are done imo, really well.
 
I don't mind subs overall, and I have watched lots of subbed anime. However, the thing I don't like about subs is that sometimes the text goes by too fast and then I have to back up and pause it. Or there is so much to read that you miss the animation and back up to see what you've missed. I think part of my problem is that I don't read fast enough where I'm sure many people don't have that issue. So, if I don't mind the dub then I prefer to watch it that way. But I do watch it both ways, such as when there isn't a dub (obviously) and when the dub really sucks.
 
Gotta be subbed for me. I can't stand some of the voices they get for dubs. It loses so much meaning! I am trying to learn Japanese so I don't have to worry about either!
 
I much rather watch anime with American voice overs than sub titles, so my choice would be dubs, I do prefer to watch my anime, not read it
 
Given only a small percentage of dubs seem to go along with the CC on any of the shows I have watched (fyi, I use the CC alot, as I have a loud brother, so hearing anything from the television is often hard to hear), so I would rather have subs above them.

And more often than not, the dub voices are bleh in comparison to their original counterparts.
 
Translating most of the content is often hard so it loses it's meaning.. watch bleach episode 1, and compare it to a subbed version, you will see how diffrent it is, and how the dubbed version is better.
