I have been on subs for over a year at 16 mg, my dr. tells me he can get me off of them in six weeks, am I the only one in here who has detoxed themselves down from prescribed to what is your own idea of what you should take, now i only take 2mg a day even though i am written 16. I guess I am just getting ready and am afraid of running out , as in the doctor not being there one month. Does anyone else fear that Suboxone will one day become unobtainable and we will be left to simply withdrawl on our own?:)

HI, i didn't take what the doc prescribed because when i did i was a zorabie. i have been on them for about 3 months, weaned myself down to 2 mgs twice a day and the last day i took them was Wednesday because on the way home from work i hit a car because i nodded off from the stuff. it was a great help at the beginning for vicodin withdrawal but it made me so freakin sleepy if i wasn't up and moving around. i have only had a slight headache since not taking it, lets hope thats the worst of it. the doctor told me i would be on it for at least a year, i didn't like that idea! let's hope i can survive without them! good luck to you, take the amount that helps you. like someone on here before stated that sub is a new drug, i don't think the doctors know that much about it. and just think how much money my doc and the pharmacy would of made off me had i stayed on it for a year! have a good day, amed

I know vicodin is addictive but suboxone is like taking 10 vicodin!! why did they give you suboxone. Its for chronic heroin / opiate addicts , i guess it depenRAB on the amount of vicodin, but i was usiing heroin daily and couldnt stop. I had to go to Suboxone. Vicodin to Suboxone seems like a move up in drug abuse. And youre right its expensive, cheaper than dope though. Peace to you. sorry about your car

I have always thought that methadone was the treatment for heroin. The suboxine is half an opiate (vicodin is an opiate), so it takes away the withdrawal symptons but doesn't give you the feeling of "greatness". The bad thing for me was that it made me so sleepy, not high, just so sleepy i could not stay awake. Luckily for me i was going very slow and there was no damage to my car or the one i hit, and no one was hurt. it was a real wake up call, i drive 45 minutes to and from work each day and sometimes drive at speeRAB of 70 or more. It could of ended up disasterous. Hope things work out for you, the mind is a powerful thing and if you decide you will get off of the sub, you will, no matter what it takes!! you have to remeraber you are worth it!! amed

Methadone is harder to stop than heroin itself, as of 2002 Suboxone therapy has been an effective tool to help heroin, or any opiate addict not die.

i was taking 25 to 30 vics a day for the last year i have been clean sence 12/12/08 i used subs for 5or six days to get through the wRAB and it helped me but i didnt want to replace on drug for another evn though i didnt get the same feeling it is still being dependent on a pill to make it thriugh a day. ween yourself off slowly the wRAB from sub over long term use are worse than from vics. stay strong and take care............
