Hi, I have been taking suboxone for over two yrs now under my case managers supervision, and am at the point i want to get clean. there are so many horror stories on the subject, can anyone give me a (tried and true) taper plan with some sort of medication list, to make withdrawal as short and painless as possible. work makes it difficult to take time off but I have just dropped to 7.2 from 8mg suboxone with no real problem. I have read it is a good idea to exercise and take, L-L tyrosine,b6,and metals, potassium ,magnesium, zink, multi vitamins, to help the body in repairing and replenishing endorphins and receptors in the brain?. ANY HELP MUCH APPRECIATED .?

Medications and specific taper plans must be prescribed by a qualified health professional. This Board is for support only.

I think i might see a private doctor i know of. He does implants and detoxes last time i heard. I go to a pharmacy and receive 7.2 suboxone double dose,( infront of the pharmacist) every second day. I would love to stockpile enough and start my own taper with family backup, but thats ileagal here. Do you know what the best vitamins to take are, for the final taper and step off?

mon-anon is (always) right. You should talk to your prescribing physician to come up with a plan. The usual rule-of-thurab is to reduce 10-20% every few days or a week. Everyone's body reacts differently to tapering, so listen to your body (and physician) and plan accordingly. Use a calendar to mark your progress and your next dose reduction date. There are other people on this forum that can specifically answer about Suboxone. Good Luck!

Thanks DENON. I am with a government funded clinic. you get what you pay for i suppose. only the other day i went in to ask for a slow automatic reduction, as done in the past, and got a flat :NO I WONT GET CAUGHT LIKE THAT AGAIN!! . I get the feeling that if i were to leave the clinic, i would put this twit out of a job. I was told, ( come back in a month and you can reduce again). there is no real consultation, planning, just a blood pressure, heart beat count, and two or three,( how do you feel?) questions. Then told to make an appointment for 3 months time. I have been lazy and just gone with the flow, but it will be 2.5 years soon and im sick of it.
Thanks

Thanks heaps MG82, let us know how you go with your 5day misery . ive been tapering from 7mg to 4mg in the last few weeks. no problems so far because work does,nt let me think about it for to long. I get 2 weeks off over christmas and think i might try to be lower than 3/2 and then jump with a couple of months of vitamins in me. I read somewhere ,get metal vitamins,(zink, magnesium, potassium ect) and take them before you jump. last time i jumped was in 2001, i wasnt expecting it and had no choice. i cant remeraber what they gave me, but that took about 2- 3 weeks. all the best

There's nothing stopping you from slowly tapering on your own. It would be better if you had the approval and could work with a physician, but ultimately it is your body and you are in charge of it. Is there someone else that you can talk to or work with at the clinic? Everyone has someone they work for. You have the right to determine your own care.
