I'm looking to replace my gas hog of a truck with either a Subaru (any of the wagons) or a Jeep (wrangler or liberty).

I'm wanting something that is low maintenance and straightforward...which one is better?
P.S. a used Jeep or Subaru, not new.

If you want to get where you are going, and back get the Subaru. For the guy who says buy the Jeep because they are made in the US...so is the Subaru. Check the reliability and safety reports on both. You will buy the Subaru.

As a person who has owned both, get the subaru. Stay far far away from Jeep and alll chrysler products. The have terrible relaibility, gas milage, resale value, performance, everything. The subaru will be better at EVERYTHING, this shouldnt even be a debate. I have owned both and work in the cars business so I am very familair with both companies and cars.

You will be able to buy the Jeep for less, but true cost of ownership will be better with the Subaru by far.

Get the subie,

also for the buy american people, the subaru you buy was probably built in Indiana buy a bunch of middle class hard working amercians. All the car companies are publicly traded international corporations, the only people you might help is the COE's that are based in the home country.

And the jeep MAY be slightly less expensive to fix, but you will be fixing it ALL THE TIME!!

The Jeep will be easier to fix and the parts much cheaper. You will also be supporting North America where you live and work.

You won't see Linoln or Cadillac's in tokyo,so until you do,buy made here.

I'm a person that will only buy, support and recommend American cars, but I must say Jeeps are the worst vehicles for owners who want their cars maintenance-free...
