granted the majority of the bike crowd attending the sturgis rally ride harleys, but the low lifers dont really attend any more, it has become way too expensive for them. an average hotel room will run you 200.00 a night during the rally. enough said about that, but the riding in the black hills area is the BEST i have experienced and with all of the nice twistie roads it is the ultimate enviroment for riding a ducati. be open minded and dont worry about the other bullshit. there are lots of other bikes, hondas, beemers and even alot of sport bikes and dirt bikes, nobody really cares what you ride, just that you ride.

Sorry. I must say your wrong.
The low lifes dont stay in Hotels, never have.
The roads are great, all year, save Augest. Lines of HD roleing road blocks. You cant pass because the fuckers wont let you back in. You cant even make time on I90. I cant drive 55!

I will say its a great place to ride, up to one week before, and one week after the rally.

Didn't do it on purpose but the wife and I are down in Rapid City for the weekend checking out the sites and figured heck why not drive 20 minutes and go check out Sturgis. Don't have the bike figured we can't be this close and not go and check it out. Anyone gonna be there by chance?

Well I guess I can say "been there done that". I'm sure it would be better if a guy had more time. We could only hang around for the day then we had to head out. I knew I wouldn't see many bikes other than Harleys but I can count on one hand how many different bikes I saw and zero ducatis. It must truely be a Harley thing, and that's cool; everyone has their thing. I will say that the riding in the area seems to be very very cool.

we were sitting on a bench along the street in spearfish s.d. tonight and saw a gt1000 go by, so there was at least one out here!!!! i will report back with any more sightings.

well we just got home from sturgis, had a good time. we saw every kind of bike you could imagine. actually did see several ducatis by the time we left. we talked to a guy that rode his multistrada down from canada. we saw a bunch of monsters and an older ss750, a gt1000 and even a 1098r. every one we met was nice and just having fun. i wouldnt let the fact that it is a harley -majority event keep me from going, alot of the harley guys like to see different stuff to look at since the harley all kind of look a like. mike
