when people say study the Bible, they mean study the Bible itself as a primary source. The Bible IS history in itself. That tends to be enough for most people, since most don't tend to enjoy reading large history texts. If you're actually interested beyond that, then researching ABOUT the bible would be seeing who changed/assembled it etc.

Studying the Bible just means reading the verses, learning the morals/stories, understanding the commandments, etc.

Hope that helps!

I was told all the time in different churches and Christian group to study the bible but , they don't seem to encourage studying the history of the bible. Who wrote it, who changed it, who assembled it?

So studying the bible means reading the bible only but never learning the origins of the bible?
