Has anybody ever made a study of mental institutions as to whether mentally ill people develop social strata and role differentiation in a mental institutional setting. In other words, would mentally ill people if placed on an Island exhibit a functional society with leaders, followers, task and emotional specialists. As psychosis seems contagious (Think Hitler, Paranoid David Koresh/Jim Jones) would they develop an alternative society where reality is based on misinformed percetions of the environment (Think Existentialism/Decartes/The Matrix).
