strange thing just happened...

First I'll give you a little background information....I've been having a lot of pressure in my head, slight dizziness, Weird pressure in my ears and strange hearing sensations, and just kind of out-of-it feeling for a while now. I'm not sure what is causing it, but I've had pretty bad posture most of my life (slump my shoulders and neck forward), so my doctor sent me to physical therapy starting a few weeks ago to work on that. He thought it could be affecting what wrong in my head. It feels like something wrong with the nerves to me, maybe being pinched or something (just a guess though). Anyways, the therapists have me doing these neck stretches where I tilt me head to the side and really stretch each side of my neck. I can really feel it pulling when I do these...it hurts but I feel it making my neck looser so I hold it. I also feel the pressure in my ears get pretty intense when I do these, it almost feels like it's really pulling some sort of nerves in the ears, but I don't know much about this so I'm totally guessing. Well I was doing the stretches just a few hours ago, and my left ear was really feeling a pulling, and ever since I did them today, my left ear has been numb. It's really weird. It feels numb pretty much all over, but it's mainly noticeable in the lobe. It also looks just slightly red. My right ear is fine. The left side of my neck seems to be the side that is always tighter so I'm thinking this is related. I am wondering if maybe I am stumbling upon part of my problem. Do you think I should keep doing these stretches with my ear going numb? Is this a good thing, or something I should be concerned about? Any help would be great, and I will definitely talk to my doctor about it too.

i would most definitely speak with your doc before you go back there again. did your doc ever do any type of scan on your neck before sending you off to PT? considering the symptoms you started out with and what is going on now,i would most definitely push him for an MRI just to really 'see' whats going on inside your c spine. something has changed from before and it does appear to be a neurological issue. it just needs a scan at this point. trust me,you do not have a clue as to what in the heck is going on inside any body area til you at least get some level of inner scan that can reveal it. this could be a host of different possibilities for what you are feeling such as vascular,or nerve/spinal related. you just need that MRI done to see how things are looking in there right now, espescially with the sudden change in symptoms.

but i would not keep doing the excercises til you actually know whats going on in there. this IS your c spine and possibly brain(but more than likely c spine) we are talking about ya know? in this type of situation,it is always best to be better safe than sorry. please let me know what you find out. feelbad-no, my doctor wanted me to try PT first to see if it would help my symptoms before I did anything else. It has definitely seemed to loosen my neck/back up and help my posture, but the issues with the numbness over the past few days seem a little strange. I will get in touch with him and see what he says. I agree with your idea of going ahead with the ct scan of the spine. I'm hoping to get that pretty soon, and I'll keep you updated.

if you can,opt for an MRI,not just a CT.it wont actually show the in depth areas you just need to have seen right now. 'something' has definitely changed up there with regards to a nerve being compromised or you would not have numbness, thats what concerns me the most about what you have stated. it just needs scanning, and an MRI would show things that you just need to see at this point much more in depth than just that CT. but you DO need that look inside at this point. just speak with your doc and take things real easy til you know what is causing that nerve to be affected. it could be as simple as a muscle spasm or something else, but either way,you need to know before you go any further with the PT. please keep me posted.
