I own a 1991 Dodge Spirit 2.5L. The past few months I have been dealing with a strange intermittent problem that comes and goes. Lately it does it once for every drive. Always when its warmed up.
I will be driving and then suddenly the RPM gauge drops completely to zero. I lose all control of the gas pedal as if it doesnt work. The car is still running when this happens. But the engine is slowing down back to idle speed. All gauges and lights look normal. This goes on for about 10 seconds and then BOOM. The RPM gauge jumps back up to normal and all control is resumed as if nothing happened. There are no fault codes and last year I replaced all plugs, wires, coil, distributor cap, rotor, pickup.
