Strange parakeet behavior? What could be causing this and how to stop it?

Nothing

Recently, like just started 3 or 4 days ago, my parakeet has been ripping up the paper towels on the bottom of her cage.
She doesn't eat them, she just sticks her beak down between the wires on the bottom, pulls parts of the paper towels off and spits them out. I can see the little balls of paper towel on the bottom.
She doesn't do this when I'm at home, just when I'm at school.

What are possible reasons for her doing this?
She is NOT hand tame (yet), so is it possible it's because she's lonely during the day?
Or is she bored? She has plenty of toys in there, six of them, all different kinds. But she has never used any of them ONCE.
She is also molting now, so is it maybe a stress reliever?

Any idea of what's causing this or how to stop it?
It doesn't bother me, but I'm worried that there could be a serious (medical) reason for her doing this.
