Strange odor from wound in cat's ear after wasp sting!?

Three days ago my cat was stung by a wasp, I'm assuming. All of a sudden there were wasps all over the yard and house, but the recent freeze killed them off. One side of his face was very swollen, and it looked and felt like a sting right below his ear.
I wasn't sure what to do, so after doing some research on the internet, I gave him the proper doses of benadryll, once that night (it was too late to call the vet) and again the next morning.

The swelling went away, but today, when he crawled in my lap, I noticed a very foul smell coming from his ear, the same side as the sting. The inside of the ear is a little bit swollen and bloody, like he's been scratching it. His behavior is still normal, except now I notice that he is twitching that ear.

Its Friday night, there isn't an emergency vet anywhere near me, and my vet isn't open on the weekend, we live in the mountains. I have been trying to clean it with peroxide, but its obviously very painful for him. I'm not sure what is going on. I'm terrified he will die of an infection this weekend before I can get him help. Does anyone have ANY advice??
It was a vet that gave me the dose to give my cat online. I know he has an infection, I don't have a vet I can get to until Monday.
