After I warm my car up and drive for a few minutes and come to a stop. I can hear what appears to be a ticking/rattling sound from under the hood. I can't really pinpoint the sound itself since my engine is a bit too loud but I can eliminate the belts, engine, and maybe the transmission. I have long suspected something rubbing or hitting but everything checks out fine. A few people told me the sound seems to be coming from the brake booster. This sound can fast or slow, Also loud and quite (Depending on the speed of the sound). This sound ONLY happens at idle, If I rev the engine up to about 1500RPM the sound goes away. It somewhat speeds up slightly as the RPM goes up but doesn't entirely react to it.
I drive a Toyota Corolla 06' with 155,000 miles. As far as I know I have a vacuum leak, Which I had before the sound happened. Also a ripped boot from the driver side CV axle (The boot connected to the transmission, I would also like to point out there is the area of the sound) Also I just changed the oil so not sure if that has anything to do with it. I keep the car in good condition. I will be fixing those problems this weekend as I don't drive this car too much now.
