Strange and annoying Windows Media Player problem?

I am ripping my cd collection to my computer using Windows Media Player.

When I rip my cds they all appear in the correct folder in My Music.

I then move the folder that has been ripped and put it in another one which I have created myself.

Then the next day when I come back to rip some more cds WMP has moved about 2 mp3s from each folder back to My Music.

I have defraged and checked for viruses and spyware but everything is ok. How can I stop this from happening.

Forget real player it sends all your info to its home server read the small print! You didn't tell WMP what you had done so it still thinks they are there.

dump WMP! been a windows user for forever, and one thing for sure, use wmp for playing media and not as a media library.
try using
-itunes
-real player
-media monkey (music only)

also try musikcube, but it doesnt rip from cd's...

yeah, i know my answer is far off, but at least you have other alternatives...
good luck

If it's only your media library that shows the files are in My Music and the files haven't actually moved, you need to rip the CD's directly to the new folder and keep on deleting the ones in 'My Music'. Then, press F3 to add files from the new folder's location e.g. E:\Music\Albums or whatever (check the file path column in your library to make sure it's the right ones). Change your default ripping folder to the new location e.g. E:\Music\Albums or it will keep ripping to My Music. That's what I have to do anyway.

If it's moving the actual files themselves, then I'm gonna say uninstall WMP, reboot and install a fresh updated version of it off Microsoft's website. I know that probably doesn't seem like an appealing alternative, but I can't think how else you could do it :(
