Stories with multiple points of view...?

I'm writing a story about a girl, and while her story is plenty interesting, the story of her bodyguard is even more interesting. But I don't want to take away from the main theme, which is the search for her mother. But just as important are all the undercurrents and things that deal strictly with the bodyguard. The secrets he knows, the things he wants/needs to keep from her in order to keep her safe.

I'd like to try and do multiple points of view, but I don't want it to get too cluttered. Have you ever done this? I was thinking to have a space break in between each POV, or separate them chapter by chapter. What do you think? And whose POV should I start with?
 
well, i think you should do the chapter thing. i tried this before.
start with the person who will give more suspense.
for example, if the bodyguard finds(or knows where) the mother first, start with him. or start with the girl if she finds first. but i think it'd be better if the body guard finds first but the girl doesn't know that he knows. i think it'd be a good suspense.
 
Look for "the heart" (if that doesn't sound too cheesey) of the piece. Just from your synopsis the bodyguard character sounds like he has more possibilities creatively. Could the story not be from his perspective? Acting as narrator or the eyes of the reader. Just some thoughts of mine. Hope they are useful.
 
you could try looking at the book Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen. i haven't read it and it's more of an ya book but it's written in multiple POVs.
