I needed a place to store my bike for about a month or so while I was moving. My friend borrowed it to go to school and it got stolen on campus. I feel bad and he does too. He has offered to pay me for it but I feel bad about making me pay me for the bike. It wasn't his fault that it got stolen but it was his responsibility. I told him he could use it but he's responsible for whatever happened. Should I make him pay me for it, split the cost, or just let it go? We're good friends.
