Here’s a clever way to store your onions: Hang them in pantyhose, with a knot tied between each one. This should extend the onions’ shelf life, according to Serious Eats commenters.
Keeping the onions separated and off of surfaces, they should “breathe” better and last longer. Hang the onions in a cool, dry place and then just cut off each onion as needed. Convenient (if a little bizarre-looking)!
