I received a ticket for running a stop sign (making a right turn) and I am going to court tomorrow. The details:
The officer knew of an obstruction at the intersection (large overgrown bushes) that prevents you from seeing oncoming traffic. Most people pass the stop sign to see past the bushes but stop briefly before entering the intersection making a right turn. Most treat it as a yield sign. I think he picked that intersection for that reason. The officer told me to ask the neighbor to cut down the bushes or contact the town about it. (Yes I got the ticket in front of my house.)
I have a video tape of 10 out of 12 vehicles running the stop sign. The other two vehicles only stopped because one was turning left, and the other had to wait for oncoming traffic.
Any advice?
I wanted to add that I did stop, but after the stop sign, and I got a ticket for failing to stop at a duly erected stop sign.
"The truth" Ok...I get it, no sympathy. No need to be down right mean. This is my first ticket in 10 years. You can try to belittle me all you want, but I stand tall and proud knowing I live my life to the best of my ability and treat others with respect and care along the way.
Thank you Fred, and Westward Wind for your great and thoughtful answers.
