Stop food 3-4 hours before sleep, does it help?

Some say that they are better off with having their last meal 3-4 hours before bedtime, others say that this is too early, and that the long period of time without food really riles up their heartburn the next morning. I am curious if weight has to do anything with it.

Are people who are overweight (also, those who the Acid Reflux theory mostly applies too) benefitting from the last meal 3-4 hours before bedtime, (because they have a slower metabolism and the stomach acid has to work a longer time for digestion)?

Are the people who are thinner not benefitting from having a meal 3-4 hours before bedtime, and would they do better with a meal 1 hour or half an hour before bedtime (because their acid works so fast due to their fast metabolism)?

Which one are you?

A.) Are you considered overweight?

B.) Do you benefit from having your final meal 3-4 hours before you go to sleep?

This is all thoughts off the type of my head and I'm just theorizing, so don't take me as any kind of source. I'm just trying to draw from your experiences to try to build my own theory.

I'm just trying to keep this up because I want to see if the things I'm theorizing make sense or not.

I'm not overweight but I do suffer from acid reflux. I find that stopping eating 2 hours before bed is the best time for me. Longer than that I get hungry during the middle of the night and end up sneaking a late night snack and suffering the acid consequences.

I'm not overweight - stopping 3 hours before sleep (and not laying down to watch TV, etc.) definitely seems to help.

My last food is taken about 3 hours before sleep. I do not lay down after supper on my bed and watch T.V. either. That is exactly what got me into this acid reflux trouble in the first place. Because my hubby doesn't like watching what I watch I'd go and lay on the bed and watch my T.V. BAD move and did it for years. Now I'm paying for it........

You know what painter, that is exactly what I believe got me started too...lying down after I eat and/or eating in bed.....now I'm paying for it too...problem is that I can't get out of the habit of doing this..what do you do after you eat?

I have a sleep nuraber bed that raises head and foot with a controll. Best thing I ever bought, and didn't know it at the time of purchase what a good buy it was. So I sit and watch t.v. with my computer on me lap till it's 10:00 pm. I sent out a couple of pm's.
