Basically in Janauary i bought a car from a big motor company and it was my first new car ever, after because of my work i had to sell it through proper methods like autotrader. The person who bought it of me had given me a fake bankers cheque and that meant i was left with nothing. After the the bank had sent a letter apologizing for their mistake through phone and letter and said they would give compensation. they did so, now today i get a phone call and i hear that the police has found the car. But the problem which the police say is that, their is another owner who bought it and did a HPI check as well and it was clear. I am thinking logically the car is mine becuase i didnt get the money from it, if i had sold the car not the right way , the bank wouldnt say sorry and compensate for their mistake. I bought from a Car dealer while the person who has my car now bought from a private seller who obviously is a fake. Now im stressed on what to do because i want my car back, i dont car if someone else has purchased it, they should've thought that their are scams like changing the chasis number, engine number and that hpi report could be all clear. I didnt need to consider that while buying it because i bought from a highly respected car dealer....
Does anyone know what i should do now, as my car is in police custody? and that there is another owner which thinks its their car because they did a full check.
i did get compensation...i didnt want it, they gave it because they made a mistake when i sold the car by not letting me know about the fake cheque. The main point of the police report was to get the car back
