Stock email problem

ok i set up an email account on my phone through godaddy and i have it as pop3 because i couldnt get imap to work

my problem is i have 12 emails in the inbox and all are read abut they keep saying 12 new emails and now when i checked my phone it said 93 but there were only the same 12 emals

1) does anybody know why it wont leave them marked as read?

and

2) does anybody know how to set up imap with godaddy?

oh and also

3) has anybody else exprienced this problem?
 
All I know is Android POP3 blows out of both barrels. If you're using 2.+ firmware, Seven I believe works great. Otherwise there's K9. I'd rather use semaphore than the stock app.
