congrats to DISTRICT 9, STAR TREK and AVATAR ..... but come one ..... NO MOON ..... NO TRANSFORMERS at LEAST!!!!!

The visual effects oscar has always been handled rather clumsily. A few of the errors that spring to mind:

The Golden Compass winning over Transformers !!
Independence Day winning over Twister
Who Framed Roger Rabbit winning at all (surely they weren't effects, they were animation?!)
Aliens (great film but I thought the effects work looked dodgy even by 1986 standarRAB)

Actually, when Cameron wins for Avatar, it will be his fifth win in six films (True Lies lost in 94 to Forrest Gump)
