I ate a meal last night at about 6:30. It was more than I have eaten in one sitting in a while. I ate too much and I might have eaten too fast, but I had the worst indigestion, heartburn for hours last night. I just woke up a half hour ago and when I burped, it seems as though the food was still in my stomach. This has happened quite a few times before, but I wondering if anyone else has had this problem? I'm pretty sure that I have non-ulcer dyspepsia. Food feels like it sits in my throat after I eat it quite often and I get the lump in the throat feeling a lot.

hi you may have slow gastric empting gastroparisis which means your food dosnt get pushed through quick enough to you intestines to get digested etc
or you could also be low in food enzymes you could try a getting a enzyme tablet from your health shop but if you get gerd you may want to get plant based enzymes and avoid ones with HCL which give you more acid, just ask the health shop people they will know which one to give you...
im sure i have a little gastroparsis and i take domperidone which helps otherwise i get really bad stomach aches like daily, domperidone gets rid of 90% of my stomach issues and its safer than others as it dosnt cross the blood brain barrier..........now i need a mircle drug for LPR!!!
ness,

Hi shrtcake,
I also feel the same way you do. I can eat just alittle snack, and it just feels like the food is sitting in my throat, and sometimes it's hard to swallow. It makes it hard to breathe also. It's really an ugly feeling. I really feel for you and everyone who has to deal with this disease. Everyone, do your best to fight the battle...
Thanx, Tanya:angel:

go to bed to tonight and say a prey to god that you dont have a serious illiness,i would give my arm to have your problem.just be thankful

I have this as well...many times, I can throw up something I ate 15-16 hours before...completely undigested. Which is kinda nice sometimes...LOL but sucks b/c I'm afraid I'm throwing up my medications. >.< I know this is common with people like me with bulimia though.

I had that problem for a couple years, and it ended sometime last year. A doc mentioned bulimia but I never got an actual diagnosis besides IBS. I was throwing up after almost any meal, for a few weeks, then ok for a while, on and off. I don't think I fear getting fat, but maybe thats there in the subconscious. Test for gastroparesis was negative, had gall bladder out but it took 2 years after that for problems to go away. So its kind of hard to tell. I had food coming back up that was 8 hours old. It was voluntary emesis, but I sorta had no choice, it wasn't going past the stomach area, just sitting there. It will still flare up on the occasional odd day. I stopped eating dairy and that seems to help a little.
I would eat complusively, its some kind of OCD.
Am finally getting treatment for OCD, anxiety, major depression, etc: Syrabyax. It makes me hungrier and so far about 3 weeks into it no major weight gain yet. Am monitoring blood sugar and weight every day. Mentally I feel better and can function again, major depression is parayzing. My gastro had suggested anitdepressants a few years ago and it took me a long time to decide to see pschrinks.
Syrabyax is a corabo of 2 often used drugs olanzapine and fluoxetine (Zyprexa and Prozac). Its like $10 a pill but its a good corabination. It would be wonderful for anorexia, as people do gain weight, and apparently it works for complusive eating too, I am only stuffed cause its the holidays, I no longer feel as compelled to eat, just hungry, if that makes any sense. Food is more enjoyable instead of being an addiction. Coffee is still an addiction for me. I am working on staying sober thats hard enough for now.
