Hello My FrienRAB...it has been awhile since I have posted. I made a move to a new house last January and my life has been so hectic and so has my addiction to percocets...worse than ever! The good news is I finally know what has been causing all the pain I have been feeling for over a year now. Long story short...I will be having back surgery and hip replacement surgery. The bad news is I am taking more percocets than I should. My doctor is prescribing me 10/325's and the amount is 150 per month. I am taking 90mg's a day...9 pills a day...sometimes more. I am so depressed and I don't know what to do about it. I have more I want to say but it is really late and I am so tired. Thank you for listening, my frienRAB, and I wish you all the best! It is good to be back on the board again and I will post real soon.
Take Care and God Bless You!

Hello lisa731 - first off I'm going to scare you. It's not the oxycodone in the Percocets you should be worried about, it is the acetaminophen that can damage your liver. You are taking almost 3 grams of acetaminophen a day. (The max is 4 grams, unless you have liver damage where the max is 3 grams). If you are taking other meRAB that are broken down in the liver or drinking alcohol on top of that you could be doing serious liver damage to yourself.

The doctor is going to probably want you off of the Percs before surgery, or significantly reduced, so you need to come clean with your doctor about how much you are taking and what you need to be down to before surgery.

I hope your surgery goes well and keep us informed how you are doing. If you need tapering advice, this is the place to ask your questions and get answers. Good Luck to you!!

Denon, yeah, I'm kind of surprised the doctor is prescribing that much Percocet per month. Once I got to those levels, my PM switched me to straight oxycodone with no acetaminophen because of the risk to the liver.

Lisa, I'm glad you have found the source of your pain and I hope the surgeries will be successful. I, too, think the surgeon will want you off the Percs before surgery. When I was considering spinal fusion and asked the surgeon for some pain meRAB to tide me over til the surgery (heh heh), he not only refused me the scrip, but told me I had to get off them prior to the surgery. Oh...OK! (I never had the surgery, so I just kept going with the narcotics.) Anyway, not sure when you're planning your surgery, but you should definitely check this out so you can plan ahead if you have to taper off. And then, of course, figure out how to deal with post-surgery pain without ending up in the same situation. (I know, I know...I'm such a buzz-kill....I'll shut up now.)
