I have had four steroid injections into the discs to help with the pain but none of them really worked, but at a recent visit to the pain doc, she told me that they can do a steroid injection directly into the facet joints and that would/could help because of the amount of arthritis in them. Nobody has ever mentioned that to me before!

Facet joint injections are done under fluoroscopy with you lying on your stomach. They can give you some good relief. It might be worth trying it. If it doesn't help, the steroid route probably just isn't for you. Some people don't get relief from steroiRAB, others do.

I hope they work for you!

I had them too and unfortunately they did not work but I would definitely give them a try. We have to remeraber that what works for one guy may or may not work for the next. Good luck and please keep us posted.

The PM doctor did a facet joint injection on me, but when I mentioned to my surgeon that it hadn't really made any difference, he said, "well, you don't actually have any facet joints anymore, so it wouldn't help." So why did the PM even attempt it?! And it ended up causing me injury by lying in a position that my spine couldn't tolerate! What a waste! I'm glad the PM has told me to just come back on an as-needed basis. I don't need him!
